UNISON Scottish Borders Public Services has donated £100 to the WASPI Scottish Borders Branch

Press release from WASPI Scottish Borders;

Living in the Borders aged 50 or over or caring for someone in that age group?  Then the WASPI Scottish Borders Group would like to invite you to attend their interactive, information event on Saturday March 9th from 12-4pm in the Newtown Community Wing, Sprouston Road, Newtown St Boswells, TD6 0RZ.

‘YOUR GOOD LIFE’ aims to promote some of the many positive aspects life in, and approaching, retirement has to offer. The event aimed at both men and women provides the perfect opportunity to find out more about what groups and organisations there are in the Borders providing opportunities to enhance your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.  With stalls, demonstrations and presentations from organisations including; Citizens Advice, Walkit, Lavender Touch, Age Scotland, V1P, Let’s Talk and many others. It will be a lively afternoon and of course refreshments will also be available.

Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) are delighted to be hosting this event and members of the Borders group will be very happy to have a cuppa and a chat with any 50s born ladies (and their families) who now find themselves struggling because of the increase in their State Pension Age.

Despite the hardships that the lack of notice of the changes to the State Pension Age in the 1995 and 2011 Acts have imposed on thousands of women in the Borders we want this event to focus on the positive aspects life in, and approaching, retirement has to offer.  Come along and join us – we are sure you will be pleased you did.
